About this tool
Generate a QR code from any text or URL and download it as SVG (sharp at any size) or PNG. The error correction level, from L to H, trades capacity for resilience against damage. The code is built in your browser with an open-source library, so the content you encode is not sent anywhere.
Worked example
A QR code that holds a web address such as https://example.com scans to open that page. Short content makes a simpler code that scans faster and from further away. Higher error correction (up to 30%) lets a code survive a logo or scuffs but makes it denser.
Common problems and fixes
- The code will not scan.
- Make it larger, keep a blank margin of at least four modules around it, and use dark on light with strong contrast.
- The code is too dense.
- Shorten the content, for example with a shorter link, so the squares can be bigger.
- I printed it and it fails.
- Test the printed copy on a phone before you print a batch, and avoid glossy surfaces that reflect light.

Frequently asked questions
Do QR codes expire?
No. The code just holds your text; it works as long as what it points to works.
What is error correction?
Higher levels (Q, H) let the code be read even if partly damaged, but make it denser.
Is it free for commercial use?
Yes. The codes you create are yours to use.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device, so your files and text are never sent anywhere.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Very large files may be slow on older phones.
