Common uses

About this tool

Convert colours between HEX, RGB and HSL. Type a value in any of those notations or use the colour picker, then copy the format you need. Three-digit and six-digit HEX codes are accepted.

Worked example

#FF8800 is rgb(255, 136, 0), because FF is 255, 88 is 136 and 00 is 0. In HSL it is about hsl(32, 100%, 50%): a fully saturated orange at medium lightness.

Common problems and fixes

A 3-digit hex code.
#F80 is shorthand for #FF8800: each digit is doubled.
Colours look different on another screen.
Screens differ in calibration and colour profile. Hex and RGB values are the same but the display is not.
Print colours differ.
Print uses CMYK, which has a smaller range than screen RGB. Expect saturated colours to look duller on paper.

Is it really free?
