How to use CSV to JSON
- Paste your CSV.
- Choose the delimiter and whether the first row is a header.
- Copy the JSON.
Common uses
- Turning spreadsheet exports into API-ready JSON.
- Preparing test data.
- Converting data for scripts and apps.
About this tool
Convert CSV to a JSON array. With the header option on, the first row supplies the property names; otherwise you get an array of arrays. Quoted fields, commas inside quotes and line breaks inside quotes are handled. Pick a comma, semicolon, tab or pipe delimiter. All values are kept as text.
Worked example
A CSV file with a header row name, city and a row Ana,Lima becomes an object with the keys name and city for that row. The result is a JSON array with one object per row.
Common problems and fixes
- Columns are split in the wrong place.
- A comma inside a value must be wrapped in double quotes in the CSV. Fix the source or switch the delimiter.
- Numbers come out as text.
- CSV has no data types. Convert numeric strings in your own code if your system needs numbers.
- Accents show as strange characters.
- Save the CSV as UTF-8 before converting.

Frequently asked questions
Are numbers converted?
Values stay as text so nothing is lost, such as leading zeros.
Does it handle semicolons?
Yes, choose the delimiter: comma, semicolon, tab or pipe.
What if there is no header row?
Untick Header to get an array of arrays.
Are my files uploaded to a server?

Is it really free?

Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Very large files may be slow on older phones.
